Be Honest And Stay Consistent
Honesty is the best policy is what we have learnt as kids from our parents and the same we teach our children. But some of us thinks that a lie which can cause no harm to anyone is ok and acceptable but the truth is that this is beginning of living a life full of lies and emptiness. I believe that lies can not only empty your heart but your life also of emotions and love that you can feel.
Few days back I saw kinley ad on TV where a young college going girl calls her father and apologies to him for telling lie that she was going to stay with her friend for study and sleep over but instead she went with them to Lonavala. When her father asked her the reason of telling that now, then she told that she can’t enjoy with her friends and can’t sleep after lying to him. The father disconnects the phone and gives smile full of satisfaction.
It brought back memories of my life before marriage. The ad was so much similar to the incident that happened years back when I was doing ISC from a college. My family was a little strict and they wouldn’t allow me to go too far alone or with friends. My college was near Botanical Garden which also is the only zoo in my city. Some of us girls made a decision to bunk classes and go to the garden. My parents had strictly told me not to go to that zoo as it is not a safe place for young girls. Many road side romeos used to roam around and there had been many cases of eve teasing. I don’t know why but we girls decided to visit the garden as if it was a challenge for us.
As expected some boys did followed us but we ignored and came out after sometime. My friends told that they are not going to tell this to their parents and it will be their secret. But unlike them I told them everything to my parents the same day when I reached home. I wasn’t surprised when my parents took it sportingly and said that it is not a place for us to go and also told me not to repeat. They were not angry but of course worried which comes naturally. Now that I am a mother of a girl I can understand how hard it must be for them to stop me doing some things which my brother was allowed to do.
I am a family person and I love my parents. I don’t lie to them as lying to them will make me feel guilty and my inner conscious will always taunt me. Speaking truth will not only make you consistent but will also give you mental peace.
